How To Correct Your Posture

Firstly, what is good posture?

It’s more than just standing up straight with your shoulders back. It’s actually aligning your body and spine in such a way that your muscles and joints experience the least amount of stress; and therefore helps to reduce the risk of injury, headaches, neck and back pain.

Visiting our chiropractors if you are having concerns about yours or a family members posture is a great first step.

We can assist in:

  • diagnosis of any underlying conditions (such as scoliosis)

  • management of any weakened muscles

  • ensuring that the joints are moving freely

  • utilising gentle adjusting techniques to help with your alignment

Our chiropractors will also work on the soft tissues which may be tight or overstretched by doing muscular or myofascial releases. They will also suggest careful strengthening exercises, stretches, rehabilitation and ergonomic advice so that it will feel more comfortable to stand or sit with good posture.

These preventative steps are important from a young age as the body goes through such rapid periods of growth in childhood and puberty. Although, it is never too late to begin correcting your posture.
